As entrepreneurs, we work so hard to achieve a variety of successes in our personal and professional lives, whether that's more cashflow or more freedom to spend with your family. Whatever the case may be for you, many entrepreneurs struggle to embrace their achievements and may even sub-consciously begin to self-sabotage. If you’ve ever felt guilt or anxiety when experiencing success, here are five strategies to help you embrace your wins and overcome your negative thoughts and feelings.

1. Acknowledge your hard work

Whenever you're feeling like those feelings of guilt creep in, take time out to recognise the effort you’ve put into achieving your goals. Take time to reflect on your journey and celebrate the milestones you've reached over time. This acknowledgment can shift your mindset from one of guilt to one of gratitude and can make you feel a lot more positive about what you've achieved.

2. Shift your mindset

Transform your thoughts about success. Instead of viewing achievement as something you’re unworthy of, remind yourself that you deserve to enjoy the very best that life has to offer. A mindset shift is crucial for allowing yourself to embrace success fully. You can do this by identifying what your limiting beliefs are and why they might be arising. Of course, if this is bringing up challenging feelings, reach out to a trained professional to talk it through.

3. Practice self-compassion

Has anyone told you that you're amazing lately? If that haven't, then take it from us! You and and any other entrepreneur who is challenging themselves and building something from the ground up is truly incredible... including you! With that in mind, don't forget to treat yourself with kindness when you achieve your goals. Understand that it’s okay to feel good about your accomplishments and be vocal about them. Practicing self-compassion can help reduce feelings of guilt and give you a more positive outlook on your successes. You might even inspire someone else to to celebrate their own goals and accomplishments, too!

4. Set new goals

Once you achieve a goal, it’s easy to feel lost or unfulfilled, especially if you don't take the time to acknowledge and celebrate them. Setting new, challenging goals can help maintain your momentum and keep you focused on the future. This can create a positive cycle of achievement and enjoyment.

5. Seek support

Don’t hesitate to reach out to mentors or peers who understand your journey - that includes us! We're always here to support fellow entrepreneurs on their journey. Sharing your experiences and feelings with others can provide valuable perspective and encouragement, making it easier to get used to and celebrate success.

It's worth considering why you created your business in the first place. No doubt you had goals in mind that you wanted to achieve. Remember why you started your business in the first place, and give yourself permission to enjoy and celebrate your successes. By implementing these strategies, you can start embracing success rather than shying away from it.
