How to create consistent business branding on social media

Consistent business branding on social media can be the difference between someone scrolling through your content and noticing your post versus them scrolling on by and confusing you for some other brand altogether!

We're bombarded with content every day, whether that includes posts from other businesses, family member or even pets, so it's more important than ever to absolutely nail your business branding on social media, to be seen, recognised and paid attention to.

But how do we go about doing that?

Well, you're in luck! Here are a few ways to keep your brand looking consistent, eye-catching, and thumb-stopping, no matter which social platform your small business appears on.

1. Colour

When it comes to being recognised, there's no easier way to do that than with colour. Colour inspires emotion, it engages us without words, and without even much attention! Using a colour, or a specific colour combination, throughout your social media pages that are aligned with your business branding will create a sense of consistency in your business and make it instantly recognisable no matter how or where your community is coming across your content.

2. Fonts

Fonts are also SO important. They set the tone of your business just as much as imagery does, and the same goes on your social media accounts. Have a think about what you'd like your business's branding to convey. Is it fun and vibrant? Serious and professional? If you're wanting to create a sense of trust and authority, for example, then using Comic Sans probably wont cut it, will it? That's the power of font.

3. Tone of voice

Your tone of voice can be a challenge to determine, but once it's confirmed it can help us bring to life our brand personality. It demonstrates how our brand shows up in the world, through word choice and writing style. Once we have our tone of voice locked in, it should come through in each of our social media posts: through our copy, the images we select and even the music we choose.

4. Identify content pillars

Identifying your content pillars allows you to determine what types of content you'll post throughout your content calendar. This takes some of the guesswork out of deciding on what content to post, and your community will come to expect, and look forward to, your regular content types. You may decide, for example, to share informational Instagram carousels on a Wednesday or Reels on a Friday, which are highly engaging and shareable, and content that your community regular saves for future reference.

5. Be consistent

In order to be recognisable, make sure you're consistent through all your online channels. If you have a profile picture that you use on your Facebook, be sure to use the same one on your Instagram and TikTok accounts so your community can instantly recognise you no matter what medium you interact on. Also make sure you're consistent with your content pillars, fonts, colours and tone of voice - the more recognisable you are at a glance, the more likely people will remember you and your brand, build trust and engage with your business as a result.
